Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 15, 2026
This policy describes how the Amble Android app (package com.amplebuddies) handles information. Amble is a screen-pet companion that can appear over other apps.
Information we collect
Amble does not require an account and does not collect names, emails, payment details, or location. The app is designed to work with bundled pet artwork stored on the device.
Settings you choose are saved locally on your device, including:
- Whether the screen pet is currently shown
- Which companion is selected
- Scale, walk speed, and opacity
These preferences stay in on-device storage (Android DataStore). Amble does not upload them to our servers.
Permissions
- Display over other apps (overlay). Needed to draw the companion on top of other apps. Without this permission the pet cannot appear on the screen.
- Notifications. Used so Android can keep the companion service running with a persistent notification while the pet is on screen. We do not use this to send marketing messages.
You can grant or revoke these permissions in the app settings screen or in your device system settings. If overlay access is removed, the pet cannot be shown over other apps.
How the overlay works
When you select a companion, Amble starts a foreground service that renders an animated pet in an overlay window. Touches on the pet (tap, drag, release) stay inside the app and are used only to move or animate the companion. The overlay is not used to read the content of other apps.
Children
Amble is a casual companion app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Third parties and sharing
Amble does not sell your information. The current version does not include advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs. If a future version adds network features (for example extra pet packs), this policy will be updated before those features collect any additional data.
Your device maker, Google Play, and Android may process install and crash information under their own policies when you download or use the app from the store.
Data retention and deletion
Local settings remain on the device until you clear the app’s storage or uninstall Amble. Uninstalling removes the app data stored on that device.
Changes
We may update this policy as Amble changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
